Jan 11 2017 update

Research Field

Our lab, laboratory for human organogenesis, was launched in August 2016 at RIKEN CDB. Our ultimate goal is to recreate functional human organs from human pluripotent stem cells (hPSCs) for regenerative purposes. We believe that knowledge from basic developmental biology is essential for regenerative studies; therefore, we are also highly interested in studies of human embryology. Especially, utilizing our unique technology that generates hPSCs-derived kidney organoids (Takasato et al. Nature 2015), we focus on the kidney and aim to generate three-dimensional kidney structures in vitro and investigate mechanisms of human mesoderm and/or kidney development. Here, we are looking for postdoctoral researchers who will be involved in following projects: 1) Mechanisms that regulates mesoderm patterning during directed differentiation of hPSCs (Takasato et al. Development 2015). 2) Generation of functional kidney organoids from hPSCs. 3) Human embryology on hPSCs-derived kidney organoids.
